Miles Continental Le Race

The Miles Continental Le Race is one of New Zealand’s premier cycling events. This stunning race starts in the heart of the Christchurch CBD and finishes in the picturesque french settlement of Akaroa (100km). Not up for the full 100km? No worries, cycle The Petite, which begins at the same start line and finishes in Little River (53km). Both rides offer a course full of challenging and forgiving segments with spectacular views of Christchurch and the wider Banks Peninsular area.

In 2018 we jumped at the opportunity to become Major Sponsors of Le Race and now we are in our fourth year of supporting Le Race. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, so read on for more information.

Thinking of entering?

The Miles Continental Le Race has options for everyone, even if you’re never been serious about cycling. Competitors range from professional road cyclists, casual recreational riders, mountain bikers, and newbies. We’re happy to point you in the direction of a bike specialist if you’re in need of some wheels as well.

So this year, tick Miles Continental Le Race off your bucket list. Which category will you be entering?

Petite

Starting at Cathedral Square, the course follows the same route as the full length Le Race but ends at Little River, for a total distance of 53km. (Must be 14 or over at event date). Click here for more info.

Individual

Go you good thing! Do the whole 100km from Chirstchurch to Akaroa.

Relais 2

Take on the full 100km as a team of two and complete half each – challenge a friend, neighbour or work colleague to team up with you.

Ensemble 4

Assemble three friends and compete as a team with each member going the full distance. Combined individual times are calculated for an overall team placing. As a bonus you’ll be entered as an individual as well, so you’ll be in two categories.

Mountain Bike Challenge

*Before agreeing to borrow a Miles Continental Le Race vehicle, make sure you understand the terms and conditions.

Driver must be 25 years or older. Driver must stay within our allotted kilometre limit (discuss this limit with the team). Driver must be an ŠCC member signed up through our database. Driver is required to have a valid New Zealand drivers license. Any parking and driving infringements are the responsibility of the driver. Vehicle supplied by Miles Continental with a full tank fuel and shall be returned by the driver with a full tank of fuel driver must return the vehicle with a full tank. Driver is covered under insurance, an insurance excess will apply to the driver. The driver will operate the vehicle within the road traffic rules and regulations of New Zealand. A grooming charge may apply if the vehicle is returned in an unreasonable state. No eating, smoking, or pets in the vehicle. A standard vehicle loan form is required to be completed/signed at the dealership when collecting the vehicle.
