Team 1: Service team
First up, we had our service team also known as the ‘Shakers & Bakers,’ who impressed everyone with their culinary skills and prepared a unique South African feast. For the main course they served a special dish called ‘Bobotie’ a South African dish consisting of spiced minced meat baked with an egg-based topping. Accompanying the main course were sides of broccoli salad and potato salad. Led by Heinrich, Angela, and Lané, the team did an exceptional job and received outstanding feedback from the families.
Team 2: Parts team
A spectacular effort from our Parts team, led by James, Raymund, Grant, and Jacob. The team showcased their culinary skills and impressed the families with their delectable dishes, including Eye fillet with gourmet garlic seasoning and a side of seasonal salad, along with seasonal roast veggies as the main course. For dessert, they treated everyone to delightful lemon tarts and chocolate cake.
Team 3: Workshop Tech team
Our workshop tech team, led by Shane, James, Yash, Alex, Tim, Sam, and Michael, did an outstanding job in preparing dinner for the families. Their meals were so impressive that one of the families even asked if they could provide out-catering services! The families had a delightful experience and provided amazing feedback. The team’s delicious brownies stood out the most where it even received 100 out of 10 by one of the families!
Team 4: Sales team
Last but not least, our Sales team, the Alejandros Amigos – Thomas, Isaiah, Andy, Sam, Alex, and Aliesha. As their team name suggests, the Sales team prepared a delightful Mexican Fiesta-themed dinner. They served Slow Cooked Pork Tacos, Mexican Mince Tacos, and Mexican Rice as the main course. And for dessert, they treated the families to Pan-baked Pancakes topped with four different ice cream flavors and sauce.
The team not only incorporated Mexican flavours into their meals, but also their Spotify playlist! Throughout the evening, the families, together with our Sales team had a blast listening to music, whilst enjoying a tasty feast.
The Winner
Last Wednesday, we hosted a morning tea at our workshop where the winners of the Miles Continental ‘Meals from the Heart’ cooking competition were announced. The results were determined by votes from the families of Ranui House, and the winning team achieved an impressive score of 28.1 out of 30 points. Congratulations to the Sales team for winning this year’s cook off!
