We were thrilled to catch up with local business, Phil, to talk shop and his love of Volkswagens.

Phil Seal, General Manager of Elite Hardware, is a Volkswagen Passat Alltrack enthusiast. Phil has three in his current fleet, which speaks to the diverse lifestyle that the Passat can cover. With 4MOTION, a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, and 162kW of power, the Passat Alltrack can really go places.

Tell me a bit about Elite Hardware — what do you do?

Elite Hardware Ltd is based in Wigram. We import and wholesale kitchen handles and hardware for dispatch to designers, architects, and joinery manufacturers throughout New Zealand.

What does a typical ‘day in the life’ for you look like?

The day starts with processing orders that have come through overnight and continues throughout the day. We monitor our orders via ship and airfreight consignments to ensure we have the stock required for sales and residential or commercial projects.

Why did you choose the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack?

I chose the Alltrack for its comfortable and safe drive due to 4MOTION and the extra height allows us to travel a bit off road as well. Phil also has a Volkswagen Tiguan!

What do you like best about your model?

The engine is 162kw, which makes driving enjoyable around town and on long travels. You get a lot of car for the price.

How does your model help you run Elite Hardware?

The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack certainly makes us more efficient. The extra space we have with the SW allows us to carry stock up to 3m long on deliveries when it’s required
