Volkswagen Grand California to Arrive in New Zealand Soon

The fully-equipped luxury Grand California campervan is set to arrive at Miles Continental soon, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Creature Comforts

The Volkswagen Grand California leaves no luxury spared. From the inside, the fully-equipped, self-contained campervan is a dream for those ready to see New Zealand’s beauty up close. The campervan comes in two variants – 600 and 680, with the only difference being the 600 is six metres long, and provides a loft above the cab for two children, in addition to a bed for two adults in the back. The 680 is 6.8 metres long with no loft and a larger bed. Volkswagen is describing the latter as a retired couple’s dream, as it provides all the comforts of a home, on wheels.

The rest of the interior, and exterior for that matter, are the same. Cooking dinner is a breeze with the double-burner gas-heated stovetop that sits atop a clever storage unit. The kitchen is placed directly next to the door, which allows the chef to experience the outdoors while cooking inside and the doors even come complete for custom-fitted bug screens, to keep the sandflies at bay. A comfy dining room table and chairs make for a perfect dinner setting or a game of cards.

“You might expect such a tall and heavy vehicle to feel intimidating to drive, but the Grand California is an easy steer once you’re used to the length of it.” – WhatCar?

Self-Contained Wet Room

The Grand California’s real show-stopper is the self-contained bathroom. Featuring a shower, toilet, and fold-down sink, the Grand California suddenly makes camping appealing to even those squeamish about public campsite showers.
